"The Merm"

Even as a child, I tried to look my very best when leaving the house. Some people were just naturally blessed with the ability to roll out of bed and look angelic but others, like myself, need a few coats of primer and a lion tamer before heading out the front door. This is especially evident in teenage girls once they realize that they can take control of their hair, face and style.    BUT....   What about those poor defenseless grade schoolers? I know I've mentioned before that my grade school years were THE WORST. It's such an awkward time. Imagine walking around, completely unaware and disconnected from the fact that you have toothpaste around your mouth, gum in your hair, and toilet paper hanging out of your pants. You live in bliss until one day, your classmates begin to develop that self awareness before you do. GREAT.    With that in mind, let's talk about parents. I truly believe that my parents had my best interest at hea...

Stitch Fix Review #2

Stitch Fix #2    Things have been wild around here but many of you have been asking to see my latest "fix". So here it is!     I would rather not show you all the pictures but I will, despite my utter displeasure and horror.     My Stitch Fix box arrived 2 days early this time! That's awesome considering how impatient and anxious I become as my "Fix" approaches. I have problems. Lol     FIX # 2 !!!!!  1. Paloma Cutout Jersey Top  I liked the feel of this top but it was ALL WRONG for me. So a huge no.  Status- sent back.  2. Roxanna Chevron Open knit Cardigan.     I really wanted to like this. The color was wonderfully coral and it was very soft. Even though it seemed to overwhelm my short stature I would have kept it, however it had some structural issues. The knitting seemed to be pulling away at the seams. This cardigan would not have...

Chinny Chin Chin's Cat-tastrophe

Over the summer, we spent a couple of days with our good friends, Scotty and Kristen. It was truly a wonderful time. They have a son, E.,  who is just a little over a year or so older than my son. It was perfect. They made huge messes together, occupied one another, and it was just all around great for my son, who didn't get a lot of interaction with other children at that time.    They have the sweetest cat named Chin. You know cats and I don't get along very well but Chin is cool. He's different and special.  My son, never being around cats, was fascinated by Chin.    The second night that we were there, I was upstairs getting ready for bed when there was a knock on the bathroom door.  "Nathanael's doing something bad!" Exclaimed E.   "Go tell JD." I answered back.   I listened carefully. I heard his little feet bop down the stairs, followed by his tiny concerned voice exclaiming, "Nathanael's being mean to Chi...

Stitch Fix

This one is for all of my gal friends, even the ones who hate to shop!  (If you're looking for one of my awkward posts, I should have one up in just a few days.)      I stumbled onto some information about a company in California called Stitch Fix. After reading blog after blog about this company and what they do, I decided to give it a go and write a review of my own. :)     What is Stitch Fix ?      Stitch Fix is a personal styling company. After you sign up and fill out an online style profile, you can select a date to receive a box from your very own personal stylist.     So!!! I ordered my first box and received it today. (A day early!) I just have to add that I don't think I've ever ran to the door that fast. The Fed Ex man looked at me like I was crazy, and honestly, I think he literally ran back to his truck looking back twice. Behold my Box!     Eac...

Humility

Nathanael had a little cough, so we took him to the doctor. The visit went really well and the doctor prescribed him with an antibiotic for a little ear infection. After our doctor visit, JD dropped Nathanael and I off at the hair salon and JD went to the pharmacy to wait on little man's prescription. There was a bit of a wait for us as well. While sitting in the salon waiting area, I tried to read a magazine article while watching Nathanael inch closer and closer to the shampoo display. He knew not to touch it, so he would hold his hands as close to the bottles as possible and glance back at me, as if he was saying,"Im not touching it! I'm still not touching it!" At this point, you choose your battles. I ignored the fact that he was being a little booger and continued reading the article. After a while of waiting, a gentleman walked into the salon. The door bells jingled and Nathanael, who had his back to the door, whispered,"Daddy?" Nathanael turned...

Entertaining Angels

Happy New Year!! I know it's been a while since I've posted and I do apologize. I love to blog about random "happenings" and "goings on" but the fall and winter are always very busy times. Since my last post, we've added a laundry room to the house, traveled down home twice, held a number of church events and enjoyed the holidays with family. Wow!      During this busy time I tried to make myself as useful as possible but I did have an occasional attack of awkwardness here and there. What else would you expect?       Our church was hosting a community event this past October. My husband worked so hard the months leading up to this event and it was a great success. I must take a moment to brag on my husband and church family.  We had overwhelming participation and support from our members and I am just so encouraged by their love and outreach. We host what is known as "Neewollah" (Halloween backwards). We offer free ...

The Floating Mitt of Fury

I tend to be a very forgiving person. It comes quite naturally for me seeing as how easily I forget things. For the most part I've always been the first and fastest to say I'm sorry. That's never been difficult for me but something happened somewhere between my wedding day and a year of marriage that made it so difficult to say "I'm sorry".         I found the love of my life, we married, and when the honey moon was over, we settled into our, less than normal, lives. It had been a long and taxing week for us both and our nerves were a little worn. I was fixing dinner, he was unwinding in front of the television, and my mind was racing over all the things that needed attention.  I poked my head around the corner and saw him cozy in his recliner, watching a ball game. The steam from boiling noodles whacked me in the face and then for some reason I felt inspired to mention a little "Honey do" list. First I informed him th...
